 This document lists all the elements and element refinements (terms) that can be used when creating metadata according to the BL Application Profile. It will be supplemented with a listing of the "Role" terms referred to and a listing of encoding schemes. There are two proposed uses for this application profile at the British Library. The first is to provide a metadata standard for use in digitisation projects where MARC records are not going to be created. The second is as a format that encompasses enough of the common elements from other BL databases to allow conversions that will enable high level cross-searching. The profile is scheduled to undergo testing against sample datasets shortly, at the time of writing it is untested. ...'Content'
