Description
This is a study in descriptive cataloging, which is an important area in library and information science. It deals with the issue of applying the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules to maps, specifically, in one area of the bibliographic record called the mathematical data. This is done after the translation and analysis of these mathematical data which represent the major problems, cases and instructions included in each rule. This is followed by an explanation of some specific cases, problems and instructions pertain-ing to the rule. The study also provides some sample applications in a complete record, where possible, in order to identify the possibilities of applying these cataloging rules to the Arab publishing of maps
