Introduction

The Dublin Core defines fifteen metadata elements to describe Internet resources. The Dublin Core Metadata element set were founded by a group of librarians, information scientists, and other parties interested in describing Internet resources in April, 1995, in Dublin, Ohio at the invitation of the OCLC organization. In the early stages of its development the Dublin Core had 13 elements, and in 1996 two more element were added, so the final figure is now 15.
