The socio-economic development of the Horn of Africa countries has been greatly affected by poverty, famine, refugees, illiteracy and diseases as a consequence of conflicts. Conflicts, lack of peace, political instability and low socio-economic development are the main barriers for sustainable development, and advancement in the living standards in the Horn of Africa countries (Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia). In the 21st century, knowledge is an asset and the advancement of education and research in science, technology and humanities could have a great role in transforming the society into an egalitarian knowledge- based society. Educated society will not allow ill devised forces to dictate their livelihood. HAEREL takes the initiative to set up an e-archive centre for sharing knowledge, supporting e-learning and providing tools support for research institutes, scholars, and other professionals in this region and around the world. The purpose of developing this website is to create an easily accessible web resource in science and technology fields ; development ; social science ; archaeology and cultural heritage. In the long term, this electronic archival centre will serve as a digital research library for advancement of education and development in the Horn of Africa. |
HAEREL calls for all researchers, scholars and graduates and post- graduate students from this region and others who have interest in research relating to the Horn of Africa to contribute their publications.
